Frequently asked questions

Is GST included in the gold rate shown here?

Both variants are shown side by side. The benchmark itself excludes GST; the "incl. GST" figure adds the statutory 3% GST charged on the metal value in India.

Why do jewellers quote a higher price than this?

Jewellers add making charges on top of the metal value, and 5% GST applies on those making charges. The benchmark is the reference price of the metal itself, not a shop quote.

What benchmark are these prices based on?

India’s official bullion benchmark (IBJA) — the reference rate published on trading days and used by banks, NBFCs and the bullion trade. Mickle displays it as published, without estimates or extrapolation.

Why is there no new rate on Sundays or holidays?

The benchmark is published on trading days only. On weekends and market holidays this page shows the last published rate with its actual date — never a fabricated "today" number.

Why does this rate differ from other websites?

Most consumer websites publish the GST-inclusive figure, while the benchmark itself excludes GST — a difference of exactly 3% on the metal value. This page shows both, clearly labelled.

Is the 22K rate just a share of the 24K rate?

Roughly — 22K (916 fine) is about 91.6% gold by purity — but the benchmark publishes 22K and 18K rates separately, and those published values are what you see here.
